John Helde films Detlef and Mari Schrempf for the Kindering Center
October 2007: Kindering Center of Bellevue, an award-winning early intervention center for birth-to-three children with special needs, tapped John and his crew (Ryan Purcell, camera, and Jeff Hoien, sound) to create a new fundraising film featuring auction hosts Detlef and Mari Schrempf. Detlef Schrempf is a University of Washington grad and former Sonics player who currently runs the Detlef Schrempf Foundation. Mari Schrempf was a hurdler on the West German National Team and a member of the 1984 West German Olympic Team, who is also active in the foundation. The 8 minute film also features the moving stories of three Kindering Center families. It will debut at Kindering Center's annual auction Nov 4, and will be used throughout the year for education and prospective parent orientation.
