120 ACRES: AN AMERICAN FARM
In 1909, filmmaker John Helde's great-grandfather purchased 120 acres of Iowa farmland. Today, the farm's third-generation tenants, the Swansons, swim against the modern tide of mega-farms. 120 ACRES follows the Swansons through an economic downturn, exploring their challenges and dreams against the backdrop of a shifting Midwest community. Helde encounters a cast of determined and individualistic characters as he tries to unravel where that American icon - the family farm - is headed in the twenty-first century.
